Potential Causes:
The Billing Provider did not enter the Provider ID number of the clinic that the patient is restricted to as the referring provider.
Solution:
Please verify the Provider ID number for the referring provider and resubmit using the appropriate data element in the loop and segment provided. Note: only a Medicaid Provider ID number can be used for the Referral on a Restricted Recipient. Therefore, if a license number and type were entered, it must be changed to the Provider ID number.
NYSDOH expects to receive the Referring Provider for all claims that are the result of a referral. In the case of a restricted recipient, the recipient's Primary Care Provider must be reported.
