Prescribing MMIS Provider ID Can Not Be Derived

HIPAA Claim Adjustment Reason Code: 208
            Remark Code: N31
HIPAA Healthcare Claim Status Code: 562
            Entity Identifier Code: 1P

Potential Causes:
The NPI of the prescribing provider was sent but was unknown to the system. A prescriber must be enrolled in Medicaid to prescribe for Medicaid clients and the prescriber’s NPI must be associated with a MMIS Provider ID.


Solution:
If your claim was denied for this edit, the prescriber should be contacted and should register their NPI with eMedNY Provider Services at (518) 343-9000.
