Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

When I enrolled as a sole practitioner, I was given a single MMIS Provider ID to use for my corporate entity and as an individual.  Now I have an individual NPI and an organization NPI.  How should I register the two NPIs?

A:

NYS Medicaid has changed the requirements for individual practitioners that are also incorporated.  In the past, one MMIS Provider ID was assigned for use as both the corporate and individual ID.  You will now be required to enroll the corporate entity as if it was a group practice using the organization’s NPI.  The individual NPI should be registered with your current MMIS Provider ID. You can obtain the appropriate enrollment packet from the eMedNY website or contact CSC Provider Relations at (800) 343-9000.
