Updated Lists of Valid ICD-10-CM and PCS Codes for FFY 2022

CMS has posted updated 2022 ICD-10-CM and 2022 ICD-10-PCS codes to be used for from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.

The 2022 ICD-10-CM files contain information on the ICD-10-CM updates for FFY 2022.

The 2022 ICD-10 Procedure Coding System (ICD-10-PCS) files contain information on the ICD-10-PCS updates for FFY 2022.

Note: There is no GEMs file. As stated in the FY 2016 IPPS/LTCH PPS final rule (80 FR 49388), the GEMs have been updated on an annual basis as part of the ICD-10 Coordination and Maintenance Committee meetings process and will continue to be updated for approximately 3 years after ICD-10 is implemented.

CMS has posted updated 2021 ICD-10-CM and 2018 ICD-10-PCS codes to be used for from October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021.

The 2021 ICD-10-CM files contain information on the ICD-10-CM updates for FY 2021.

The 2021 ICD-10 Procedure Coding System (ICD-10-PCS) files contain information on the ICD-10-PCS updates for FY 2021.

The complete list of the 2018 ICD-10-CM valid codes and code titles are in the 2018-ICD-10-Code-Dedcriptions.zip on the 2018 ICD-10-CM and GEMs web pages.

See the file named "icd10cm_codes_2018.txt" in the ZIP file for the list of 71,704 Diagnosis Codes and Headers.

In "icd10cm_codes_addenda_2018.txt file", there are

  • 142 deletions

CMS has posted 2017 ICD-10-CM codes to be used for discharges and for patient encounters occurring from October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017.

The complete list of the 2017 ICD-10-CM valid codes and code titles are in the 2017 Code Descriptions in Tabular Order ZIP file on the 2017 ICD-10-CM and GEMs web page.See the file named "icd10cm_codes_2017.txt" in the ZIP file for the list.

There are 71,486 codes in "icd10cm_order_2017.txt", covering
  • 1974 additions
  • 311 deletions
  • 425 revisions

eMedNY 2017 ICD-10 Update Testing is Now Open

Since July 28, 2014, eMedNY has provided the Provider Testing Environment (PTE) for submitters to test Medicaid claims with ICD-10 diagnosis codes and inpatient hospital claims that utilize ICD-10 procedure codes.
